Election Mode
Among the common factors of greatest importance is the electoral system. Studied its effect on some aspects of the structure of the party: even in this area, he serves as an element of political parties as a way of voting orients in the same direction of the structure of all parties in the country. His impact on the number, size, unions, representation of parties is crucial.
And vice versa: the system of political parties played a major role in determining the electoral procedure: two-party system facilitates the adoption of majority voting system in one round, presence of the party with the structure of the Order makes it avoided, the natural tendency toward the unions opposed to a proportional representation system, etc.
Ultimately, the system of parties and the electoral system - two realities are inextricably linked to each other, sometimes they are difficult to separate even for the purpose of analysis: the greater or lesser adequacy of political representation, for example, depends on the electoral system and political parties, considered as elements of one and the same complex, and often these items can not be isolated from each other. The overall correlation method of voting and party system can be expressed in the following three formulas:
1) the regime of proportional representation leads to a multiparty system with stringent, independent and stable parties (except as any kind of short but turbulent motions),
2) majority voting in two rounds leads to a multiparty system, parties which are characterized by "soft" structure, prone to alliances and relative stability (in all cases), 3) majority voting in one round leads to a dualistic system of alternation in power of large independent parties. |
