Ukrainian Socialist Party

The party was founded October 26, 1991 at the constituent congress in Kiev as a partial successor to the Communist Party of the Communist Party. In the elections of the Verkhovna Rada in 1998, along with the SPU Selyans'kyi installment in the block "for the truth, for the people, for Ukraine!" Which took third with 2,273,788 votes (8.6%) and 29 seats, six candidates were elected to the block in single-member constituencies. In the 1999 presidential elections the SPU leader Oleksandr Moroz was one of the favorites in the election campaign and in the event of the second round had the most serious chance of winning, as a candidate acceptable not only for the left, but for the centrist voter, so the acting authorities made no effort to counter Claus and even the conscious promotion campaigns P. At STC have developed complex relationships with other parties of the left spectrum, especially with the Progressive Socialist Party, whose leader Natalia Vitrenko (former member of the Socialist Party) is a personal enemy, Alexander Moroz.
